Local LibDem Euro-MP Liz Lynne has welcomed the European Parliament's call for an EU-wide child alert system, similar to the 'Amber Alert' system in the United States.

The Indian authorities must thoroughly investigate alleged Kashmiri mass grave sites uncovered in a recent report, MEPs have said in a strongly worded resolution adopted today.

The full cost of a plane ticket will become much clearer before booking over the next few months, thanks to laws adopted by the European Parliament today. This will finally put an end to tickets being advertised for one or two pounds, only for customers to be charged a much higher figure when they actually buy the flight.

Liberal Democrat MEP Liz Lynne has welcomed a report released today by Oxfam and the campaign group Kalayaan which sheds light on the extent of abuse of migrant domestic workers in the UK and highlights the importance of the currently under threat domestic worker visa ,which gives migrant domestic workers the same basic rights as other workers.

The European Commission today unveiled healthcare proposals that could give UK patients new rights to seek medical treatment elsewhere in the EU. The EU proposal follows a 2006 European Court of Justice ruling that the NHS could not refuse to refund costs of overseas treatment if patients waited longer than clinicians advised, even if waiting list targets were met.

Local Euro-MP Liz Lynne has reacted angrily to the release today of the list of Coventry & Warwickshire post offices earmarked for consultation on closure. The consultation programme is part of the government's wider post office closures plan and is likely to see many on the list closed along with up to 2500 nationwide.

The European Parliament voted today to reject an amendment calling for a delay to the introduction of mandatory electronic tagging of individual sheep and goats in 2010, much to the frustration of LibDem European Agriculture Spokesperson (England & Wales) Liz Lynne MEP.

The EU desperately needs to step up its ability to respond effectively to natural disasters such as last summer's floods, according to European Parliament report adopted today.

The European Commission has agreed to bring forward a new comprehensive anti-discrimination directive, despite objections from some Member States, after a fierce lobbying campaign by European Parliamentarians and NGOs, culminating in the adoption of a key report in the European Parliament last month by Liberal Democrat MEP Liz Lynne (ALDE, UK), which called on the European Commission to honour its plans for a comprehensive directive.

Mobile phone operators' failure to regulate the cost of their own text and mobile internet services will mean new EU-wide price caps, like those successfully introduced on roaming mobile phone calls last year, according to a Liberal Democrat Euro-MP.
